Apart from the simple pleasure in painting still lifes, the artist often learns from the motif. Here, the bodies of the pears have lost their outline and lean into eachother- yet their shadows remain intact and seperated. The pears, unlike many of us men, know to keep their darkness contained, and love freely in reality, outside of the mirage that reflects onto the table.
