二人展「言葉から」

正木雄悟

 人は、意図しないうちに日々を「積み重ねて」おり、
積み重ねた日々の中で出会った様々な事象や情報がその「人」を形成します。

そうだとすれば、
人間らしさとは、本来何か一つの言葉や記号によって示されるものではなく、
多くの言葉や図像の積み重ねによって表されるべきである、
という思想が、自分の制作の根底になっています。

そしてこの思想は、
人間だけでなく、社会や世界といったより広い概念に関しても同じことが言えると考えます。

今回展示されている作品が版画における複数の版やメディウムの重なり、
あるいは文字や図像の重なりといった階層的な表現を伴うのは、
それが「現実」をより正しく写し取ろうとしたものであるからです。

文字や図像を用いた抽象的な表現で写し取ろうとしているものは、
自分という人間の姿であり、
あるいは自分の身の回りに広がっている世界の輪郭でもあります。

デッサンにおいてあるモノとその外側を隔てる輪郭が、
多くの線の重なりによって表されるように、
自分の作品は図像や文字の重なりによってそれを描写していると言えます。

大学に入ってから余計な力が抜け、 自分の体験の中で物語を作ってから描くことや、 正直にそのまま絵画で表現することができるようになりました。

私の中で、人生とは切なさや儚さを伴うもの。 そして私は、その経験がその人の人格を一番左右するものと考え大切に扱い、 表現に活かしていきたいと思っています。

人間の脆さや繊細さからくる、 ただ暗いだけでもなく、ただ明るいだけでもない、 曇っているけれど暖かい雰囲気を書くことを目指して制作に取り組んでいます。

今回二人展をするに当たって正木を誘ったのは、 タイプが違うはずなのに作品を作り出す時、 言葉を大切にしているところに共通点があり、 お互い気楽に接することが出来る点にシンパシーを感じたからです。

皆様にも作品を通して不思議な共通点のある世界観を楽しんで欲しいと思っています。

Yugo Masaki

People 'accumulate' their days unintentionally,
and the various events and information encountered in those accumulated days
shape that 'person.'

If that is the case,
my creative philosophy is based on the idea that humanness
should not be represented by a single word or symbol,
but rather by the accumulation of many words and images.

I believe that this idea applies not only to individuals,
but also to broader concepts such as society and the world.

The reason why the works exhibited this time
involve hierarchical expressions,
such as the layering of multiple plates and mediums in printmaking,
or the layering of letters and images,
is that they are attempts to more accurately capture 'reality.'

What I am trying to capture through abstract expressions using letters and images
is the figure of myself as a human being,
or the outline of the world that surrounds me.

Just as the outline that separates an object from its exterior in a drawing
is represented by the layering of many lines,
it can be said that my works depict it through the layering of images and letters.

Hiromi Nakagomi

"After entering university, I was able to relax and express myself more freely, creating stories from my own experiences and painting them honestly.

In my view, life is accompanied by both sorrow and ephemeral beauty. I believe that these experiences greatly influence a person's character, and I want to cherish and utilize them in my expressions.

I strive to create works that capture an atmosphere that is neither simply dark nor simply bright, but rather a cloudy yet warm feeling that comes from human fragility and delicacy.

The reason I invited Masaki to have a two-person exhibition this time is that, despite our different styles, we share a commonality in valuing words when creating our works, and I felt a sense of sympathy in how we can interact with each other comfortably.

I hope that everyone will enjoy the worldviews with these strange commonalities through our works.
